The purpose of studying the discipline is to train specialists in mechanical engineering who can use the acquired knowledge of chemistry in future professional activities.
Know: basic concepts and laws of chemistry; types of certain reactions; regularities of chemical kinetics and equilibrium; the course and compilation of reaction equations for certain transformations; properties of electrolyte solutions; physicochemical and electrochemical properties of metals; the course of redox reactions in chemical current sources; methods of obtaining pure metals in industry; types of corrosion processes; modern means of protection of metals against corrosion; basics of chemistry of dispersed systems and binders.
Be able to: independently solve chemical problems; to conduct simple experimental chemical research; determine the scope of chemical reactions; to predict the consequences of the interaction of chemical compounds; prepare solutions of electrolytes and non-electrolytes; to study and evaluate the basic properties of compounds of non-metals and metals as components of building materials; apply the theoretical foundations of chemical processes and experimental skills in the study of special disciplines.
